How to add a dubbed audio track to a YouTube video
16 October 2026
YouTube lets one video carry several audio tracks. Viewers keep the same video, views and comments, and pick their language from the gear menu. This is usually a better way to reach a new audience than running a second channel.
Before you start
- Check you have the feature. Multi-language audio has been rolling out to creators in stages. Open YouTube Studio, go to Languages, and look for a Dub column next to your videos. If it is missing, your channel does not have it yet.
- Make the track the same length as the video. The dubbed audio has to line up with the picture from the first second to the last. Dubly exports a full-length track with silences in the right places.
- Keep the music and effects. Viewers notice when the background music disappears. Export the dub with your original music and effects mixed underneath.
Steps
- In YouTube Studio, open Languages from the left menu.
- Pick the video and choose Add language, then select the language of your dub.
- In the Dub column for that language, choose Add and upload your audio file.
- Preview it, then Publish.
- Add a translated title and description for the same language, so the video appears in search for that audience.
After you publish
YouTube serves the dubbed track automatically to viewers whose language matches, and everyone else can switch from Settings → Audio track. Watch the Audience tab in Analytics over the next few weeks to see how many views come from the new language.
Tips for a dub people keep watching
- Fix names and terms first. A wrong product name or a mangled place name is what viewers notice. Correct those in the transcript before you dub.
- Shorter beats faster. When a translated line runs long, reword it instead of speeding up the voice.
- Ask a native speaker. Have one person who speaks the target language watch the first video before you publish it.
Dub your next video in your own voice
Dubly turns your Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi or Arabic video into an English, French, Spanish or Arabic audio track you can upload to YouTube.
